Grandparents
We are learning about what life was like when our grandparents were peedie.  This week we have started Show and Tell and we are all taking in photos or objects to help us learn more about the past.
Emilie and her mum told us all about Emilie's grandparents yesterday.  Through the photos, we learned that cameras couldn't take colour photos, that wedding clothes are quite similar to present day and that babies didn't sit in car seats!

Snowdrops
On Friday Miss Pirie noticed a sign in her garden that Spring will be coming soon - snowdrops!  She took in some snowdrop bulbs and we planted them in pots.  We spoke about the parts of the plant including the roots, bulb, shoot, leaves and petals.  We are hoping that they continue to grow outside the classroom.

Winter Weather
We have been learning about the seasons in P1.
Some of us went outside to spot signs that it is still Winter.  We took some photos to show everyone else.  We had to wear our coats and put our hoods up because it was so cold and windy!

We matched pictures to the 4 seasons and put them in a circle to show the seasons keep on going round and round.

We drew pictures about A Windy Day.  Tomorrow we are going to start doing some writing to match our pictures.

Emilie is flying a kite and her hair is blowing in the wind.

Alida and her mum are walking their dog all wrapped up and with their wellies on.

The net on Rachel's trampoline blew away!  Look at her shocked face!

Liam's crisps blew out of his hand at playtime.

Kara had to hold on to the fence so she didn't blow away while she was waiting for the bus.  Her hair is blowing to the side because of the wind.

Double Trouble!

In P1 we have been learning about doubles.  We spoke about when we hear the word double - double doors, double buggy and double decker.
We looked at dominoes and spoke about what it means when you have a double domino.  We discovered it means it has the same number of dots on both sides.

We all took a number card and had to make two sticks with that many cubes - a double!  We counted up all the cubes to find what the total was.  We discovered you can double any number but the result is always numbers with a 2,4,6,8 or 0 and it misses numbers on the number line.

We played a good game where you had to roll a dice and either add one, take away one or double the number of counters you had!  Some people had lots and lots of counters.
